Studies the vertical distribution of the temperature and humidity in a primary processing workshop of Xiamen Cigarette Factory. The measurements show that a massive heat stratification is at the top of the ceiling grid (7 meters above the floor), resulting in an average temperature of 33.5 ℃. In the conditioned space, the average air temperature is 29.7 ℃, 3.8 ℃ lower than that in the upper area. Mechanical ventilation is installed above the grid which helps to remove the accumulated heat and improves the thermal comfort and HVAC energy efficiency. Simulates and analyses the workshop using Airpak3.0. Finds that the proposed approach releases the heat stratification and reduces the average temperature to 31.3 ℃ in the upper area. Compared to non-ventilation condition, the 1.9 ℃ temperature drop saves the energy by 5.93%.
